Babacar Ndiaye Lecture

Our ASEACC member, the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), alongside their President Professor Benedict Oramah, is pleased to invite you to join us at the fifth annual Babacar Ndiaye Lecture which will take place virtually on October 20.

This event takes place with the spirit of ‘One Africa One Vision’, as the continent embraces a single trading market with no borders, the theme for this year is: The Importance of Science, Technology and Innovation in the Transformation of African Economies under AfCFTA, with the keynote lecture from H.E. Prof. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former and first female President of Mauritius (2015-2018).

This annual gathering honours the legacy of the late Dr. Ndiaye, President of the African Development Bank from 1985 to 1995 and revered forefather of Africa’s economic growth and ideological progress.

2022 Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank Group

Ghana is set to host the African Development Bank Group’s next Annual Meetings in May 2022, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties on Monday.

The 57th Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank and the 48th Annual Meeting of the African Development Fund will take place from 23 to 27 May 2022. Because of Covid-19 considerations, plans are under way to hold the meetings in a hybrid format, with the physical presence of Governors, Executive Directors and Bank senior management and officials at the Accra International Conference Centre, and others participating virtually.

The demand for convenience and processed food is growing in Nigeria. Nigeria’s packaging and food processing market is one of the largest in Africa, estimated at about US$545 million. However, the agriculture and agribusiness industry is plagued with numerous challenges including business, infrastructure and regulatory problems. These provide numerous investment opportunities for the Africa-savvy investor. Dr Adefolake Adeyeye, a Nigerian citizen and Research Fellow of the NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies, has researched these possibilities.
