Mr. Jean-Louis Ekra is a member of the ASEACC Advisory Board, and is currently serving as the Independent Non Executive Director of Bank of China. Additionally, he is a non-executive director of GlobelEQ, one of Africa’s top power generation companies. Mr Ekra was also the former Chairman and President of the African Export-Import Bank. Mr Ekra joined the bank in 1996 as Senior Executive Vice President.

He started his banking career with Citibank, subsequently served as Partner of DKS Investment in Jersey, Country Manager for the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) at Meridien BIAO and Managing Director of the Ivorian Post Office. He was, in 2010, awarded the Officier de l’Ordre National of Ivory Coast, and in 2016, was awarded the Commandeur de l’Ordre National of Côte-d’Ivoire.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Stern School of Business – New York University (NYU) and a Maîtrise en Sciences Economiques from University of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. In 2011, Mr. Ekra was listed among the 100 most influential people of Africa by New African, a leading Pan-African publication. In 2013, He received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from “African Bankers”.
